TOLAR GRANDE & CASUALIDAD MINE // SALTA

Day 1: Salta, San Antonio de los Cobres, Tolar Grande.
We depart from Salta to San Antonio de los Cobres (10991 ft.). We cross the ‘Quebrada del Toro’, this is a parallel route of the famous Train to the Clouds railways. Then we cross through ‘Abra Blanca’ (the highest point at 13386 ft.) where we have the first view of the ‘Puna’. We arrived to San Antonio de los Cobres. Then continue to Tolar Grande (12140 ft). We cross ‘El Laberinto’ desert. Arrival to Tolar Grande. Night at Franco Argentino shelter. (L, S, D)
Day 2: Visit Chance Mina (Mina Julia).
We departure early in the morning to ‘La Casualidad’ Mine crossing the Arizaro Salt flat, the third largest salt flat in the world. Previous to this we will visit the Caipe Railway Station. Along an asphalt road we arrived at ‘La Casualidad’ Mine. This was the most important sulfur mine until it was closed in 1978. It is located in the Andes, near the international border with Chile and the boundary of the province of Catamarca. We will visit the abandoned buildings and then returned in the afternoon to Tolar Grande. Night at Franco Argentino shelter. (B, BXL, D)
Day 3: Tolar Grande, Santa Rosa de los Pastos Grandes, Salta.
Early in the morning we will take the spectacular mountain road where we will see the different hills and snowy mountains, highlighting the Quewa mountain, which exceeds 19685 ft. (near the summit it was found an Inca mummy). We will also cross some typical villages with their troops of llamas, guanacos and vicuñas. Arrival to Salta city. (B, L, D).
